Round 9 and Bemsee were at Brands Hatch in Kent, Brands is considered the spiritual home of Bemsee and is the track they end the season on. Round 7, held 3rd/4th August saw Lamonde Automation sponsored Matt at the famous Cadwell Park circuit, a favourite of riders and spectators alike. This is the second time that the minitwins have raced at Cadwell this year. Saturday morning, Matt, qualified 5th on the grid with a 1:41.806, the rookie lap record has stood at 1:41.1 since 2012, set by Ashley Buxton. Last weekend saw BMRC (Bemsee) at the famous Brands Hatch GP circuit – always a popular meeting as there are limited races carried out on the extended GP circuit compared to the shorter “Indy” circuit. Lamonde Automation Sponsored Minitwins rookie, #232 Matt Wetherell qualified 8th on the grid for the first race of the weekend for him (race 9) which put him in the middle of row 3 with a qualifying time of 1:42.227, placing him 5 places in front of close rookie rival, Dan Thomas and 8 ahead of Tommy Downes who’d had some issues with his bike. Round 5 of the MRO Minitwins championship saw Lamonde Automation sponsored Matt Wetherell competing at Snetterton in Norfolk on the 300 circuit. Snetterton can be a wind-tunnel at the best of times, and this weekend was no exception. In practice on Friday, Matt had a crash, resulting in some bike damage, but thankfully no injury. This year, we’re again supporting the Oxted Beer Festival as we have done for the previous two years. We’re sponsoring “Trenchman’s Hop” from local micro-brewery, the Godstone Brewers. Apart from beer, the Oxted Beer festival boasts an outstanding variety of musicians and performers, both local and more widely known bands, such as Saturday night’s headline act – renowned 90’s band, Reef. The Oxted Beer festival has been running since 2012 and raises money for charities & local community projects as well as providing a fun weekend of food, music, sport, entertainment and of course beer.
Round 4, held at the famous Donington Park National circuit, saw Lamonde Automation sponsored Matt Wetherell starting the weekend leading the MRO Minitwin (rookie) championship with 225 points, with closest rival, the young, talented Tommy Downes on 186 points. Achieving two very close second places in Races 1 & 2 and bagging the win in race 3, Matts lead has been closed down a bit by Tommy, now on 256 points and Matt on 285. The weather was dismal, wet, windy and everything in between, interspersed with sudden dry spells, which made tyre choice the order of the day.
