New Product Announcement: More BRX Analogue and Temperature I/O Expansion Modules from AutomationDirect

AutomationDirect has added more I/O expansion modules to its BRX Micro PLC product line. BRX I/O expansion modules add discrete and analogue I/O to the BRX PLC system as needed to expand machine and process control applications. BRX expansion modules easily snap onto the side of any BRX Micro PLC Unit (MPU) or BRX Remote I/O controller. Eight new analogue input and combination analogue I/O modules are now available for the BRX Series; new 16-channel current input (0-20 mA / 4-20 mA) and 16-channel voltage input (+/- 10VDC, +/- 5VDC, 0-5 VDC, 0-10 VDC) modules provide higher density analogue I/O. New EasyBuilder Pro Feature for cMT Series: MQTT JSON Advanced Format Setting

JSON Advanced setting has been added to the MQTT Topic Publisher in EasyBuilder Pro. Beside’s being compatible with the existing simple JSON format, this function allows users to define JSON format with more flexible structure tailored to the cloud device they use. With this function, data transferred to the cloud can be generated in the required format without the need for an extra conversion tool, realising integration with diverse cloud services, turning conventional PLCs into IIoT smart devices. Furthermore, users can simply configure the settings via an intuitive graphical interface, eliminating the need for writing JSON codes in order to Continue reading New EasyBuilder Pro Feature for cMT Series: MQTT JSON Advanced Format Setting

Race Report From Round 5, Snetterton 300. June 2019

Round 5 of the MRO Minitwins championship saw Lamonde Automation sponsored Matt Wetherell competing at Snetterton in Norfolk on the 300 circuit. Snetterton can be a wind-tunnel at the best of times, and this weekend was no exception. In practice on Friday, Matt had a crash, resulting in some bike damage, but thankfully no injury. Having not qualified as well as he could have due to a tyre choice issue for the qualifying session meant he was to start race 1 on Saturday from 27th place, the weather conditions were challenging, but in spite of that, Matt got up to Continue reading Race Report From Round 5, Snetterton 300. TechTip: Embedding Variables In a Weintek HMI Alarm/Event Log

Often, when wanting a notification about a process, it is just that, a notification. A simple email reporting a few process values at a given point in time. In a previous TechTip, we covered sending alarm emails from the Weintek HMI. We can adapt the same approach to send a reporting email too. As usual, I will step through building up a simple example project. First off, we need to set up the email details. Full details are in the alarm emails TechTip mentioned, previously: Next, we need to setup an Alarm/Event log: For this example, we’re going to trigger Continue reading TechTip: Embedding Variables In a Weintek HMI Alarm/Event Log

New Product Announcement: New CPU, PSUs and Analogue i/o for the Productivity1000

We’re pleased to announce that the excellent Productivity1000 range has been expanded with the addition of a new CPU (P1-550) two new power supply modules (P1-01DC & P1-02AC), five new analogue modules, (P1-04AD, P1-08ADL-1, P1-08ADL-2, P1-08DAL-1 & P1-08DAL-2), and two new speciality modules – High Speed Counter & Pulse-Width Modulation (P1-02HSC & P1-04PWM). Productivity1000 I/O modules are auto-discovered and easily added or removed. QR (Quick Response) codes are printed on each module linking to latest specs and wiring. New CPUThe new P1-550 CPU boasts up to 50 MB ladder memory, microSD card slot, 2 Ethernet 10/100Base-T ports (vs 1 on Continue reading New Product Announcement: New CPU, PSUs and Analogue i/o for the Productivity1000

New Product Announcement: cMT-iV6 – Industrial Touch Screen with built-in cMT Viewer

Product Introduction The cMT-iV6, is a touch panel with built-in cMT Viewer, which allows it to connect to multiple cMT-SVR or cMT Series HMIs for monitoring. Equipped with a 9.7” 1024×768 touchscreen, built-in speaker and a high-performance 1GHz processor, it is able to deliver outstanding visuals, sound effects, and operator experience. The cMT-iV6 inherits most of the functions from cMT-iV5, but with the addition of an SD card slot. By using an external SD card, it can support many features that were otherwise not available on cMT-iV5, for example, file browser, media player, picture viewer, PDF reader, and screen hardcopy, Continue reading New Product Announcement: cMT-iV6 – Industrial Touch Screen with built-in cMT Viewer

TechTip: Using StringLength In a Weintek HMI

This TechTip is about using StringLength in a Weintek HMI. An example application for this might be where you want to return a string to generate a batch code where you may gather data from various sources – different devices for example. Previously on a TechTip, we covered using StringCat, where StringLength is useful is where your strings vary in length. By measuring the length of the string, we can use it to create an offset when we concatenate using StringCat. Let’s break down what we’re doing here: Declare variables for the source LW data and declare the OutputString: char Continue reading TechTip: Using StringLength In a Weintek HMI
